Fullscreen: Module of Memory - Documentary Film by Al Jazeera Balkans
Mehmed Bajraktarević, professor and conductor, is preparing the choral part of the song "Samo da Rata ne Bude", to be performed in the City Hall in Sarajevo with a choir of children from 22 Sarajevo elementary schools. It is the largest choir that has ever gathered in Sarajevo. He will perform as part of the Memory Module program, which the MESS Festival launched in 1995 after the end of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the end of the siege of Sarajevo. The festival deals with the culture of memory and the attitude of the citizens of Sarajevo towards memory through art projects, exploring the phenomenon of art in radical situations. The film simultaneously follows several artists and cultural workers, who talk about their relationship to memory and the importance of memory for future generations. Photographer Milomir Kovačević talks about his own experiences during the siege. Mehmed Bajraktarević talks about his experience working with children. The organizers of the Memory Module program talk about what motivated them to deal with war topics and the importance of memory for future generations.
